Salem Christian School (SCS) began in 1973 as a ministry of Salem Evangelical Free Church. In 2009, New Life Covenant Church acquired the school. Despite these changes, the mission has remained the same: to provide a quality education from a Christian perspective, equipping students to become leaders who serve God while embracing the diversity of an urban community. SCS serves a diverse population of 115 students in preschool through grade eight. Emphasis is placed on providing opportunities and experiences for students to learn how to think, solve problems, capitalize on strengths, make decisions as morally responsible individuals and to communicate effectively. Students also learn to appreciate the opinions of others and evaluate them in light of Biblical principles. A member of Christian Schools International, Salem believes a child's education is immensely enhanced when parents, teachers, administrators and the community work cooperatively as partners in education.
